What makes up the price of a fursuit?1. Material costs 500 -1000 PLN:
To create the head, I must order at least 1 linear meter of fur. However, most characters have more than one color. In many stores, I cannot order less than 0.5 linear meters. Each 0.5 linear meters costs approximately 100-150 PLN. So, if your fursona has 3 fur colors, it will cost more.2. Cost of producing the base 500 PLN:
To create the design, I must spend a lot of time modeling and preparing the model for printing. These are long hours of work that only pay off after a dozen or so orders.
I order the printing itself for 300-400 PLN: this is the base, eyes + eye mesh.3. Preparing the base for furring 500 PLNHere I work on shaping so that the base is comfortable, has good ventilation, and visibility. This determines whether you can withstand 1 hour or a whole day in the fursuit. I must sew here and check the dimensions so it is not too small.
I add to the costs: minky: it is used to make the inside of the muzzle, tongues, teeth, nose, and is often a substitute for the inside of the ears; minky can cost from 12 to 50 per color + shipping.4. Furring costs 1500-2000
This is the most time-consuming work. The pattern is made here, the most demanding sewing, trimming, and finishing so the fursuit looks good visually. The work alone will take 30 hours or more. The heavier the look, the more time it will take and the more expensive it will be.
This is already payment for my learned skills, that I can sew pieces together so they do not tear, that it will look neat, that I have the ability to trim without making holes, everything I have learned over the course of several years.
A fursuit is a luxury good, so the hourly rate cannot be lower than the national average per hour: 50 PLN, 30x50=1500.
I calculated 30 hours based on Steven Universe: when I was making the fursuit, I only watched that show and that is approximately how long it takes per hour.5. Additional mechanism costs:
Additional costs may be added to the price, e.g., if you want horns on magnets, it will be an additional cost for the magnets and for additional labor. Earrings will also be for an additional fee, as will replaceable eyelids. I calculate this adequately to what you need.Summary
